How A Private Dentist Saved My Life - An Honest To God Dentist Review

I know, a lot of people use Hubpages to promote themselves or their businesses. Well, this is something totally different. This is an amazing story how a guy (me) had a serious dental problem that nobody could solve, at least, it looked that way. Until I found a dentist who is known as one of the best in the world. This is my story about the treatment I got from her and her staff, as an ode to her because she is fixing me together with her amazing team, so I can start living my life again. So this is the story of me visiting Olga Iankovitch, an amazing cosmetic dentist!

Anybody remember this movie, "A Knight's Tale?" There is this guy in there who keeps saying "Pain, Lots of Pain" to threaten his enemies. Well, that was the story of my life in the last few years. It all started a few years ago when I started getting pain in my teeth, but what was worse, below my teeth. And this was not the pain you can experience when you need a root canal treatment. I mean, that one is bad enough, but the pain I had went into my bone, up to my nose and in the end I even got a problem with my left eye. Now, don't think I didn't see a dentist to get this torture to end. I saw many of them in the country where I live (in Northern Europe). However, the story they kept telling me made no sense at all. My estimates for handling my pain and my teeth were basically worded like this: "Bring us your money and we'll give you a bunch of crowns." Well, great idea, but to me it didn't make any sense. Man, FOR YEARS I WAS IN BLOODY PAIN ALL OVER MY FACE! How do you handle that with crowns? To me it sounded like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

Half a year ago I was getting desperate because all of a sudden I was getting muscle pains all over my body and I could hardly walk anymore. So I saw a doctor that I had visited before (when I had a serious blood poisoning about 10 years ago and the hospital didn't know how to handle it). He helped me at the time and I visited him in Augsburg, Germany. He is known as a specialist who works with a lot of cancer patients and although he will never say it himself, I saw him cure people with cancer with a very simple method, which worked on several people while I was there. And although this is not a page about curing cancer, I would like to mention it as a side note: what he does is to make sure the body gets alcalic instead of acid, because cancer only survives in an acid environment. Anyway, he cured me at the time from blood poisoning, so I thought to visit him and ask him for advice, because yes, I could barely walk anymore and I felt way too young to stop having a normal life. I am not even 50 years old!

Since this doctor happened to be in my hometown by pure coincidence, he was friendly enough to visit me (so I didn't have to go to Germany) and we spoke for about half an hour about all my muscle problems and that I could barely walk. He didn't really understand where this problem was coming from, until I mentioned that I had so much problems with my teeth. He instantly dropped everything (literally) and told me that he now understood and that I needed to see a dentist immediately and get the problem located and handled. That started my search for a dentist who didn't just want to make money on my teeth, but who would really handle the problem. And to make a long search story very short, that's when I found Olga Iankovitch, a young and brilliant private dentist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Olga Iankovitch is an amazing person. She came from Russia to The Netherlands to study when she was 19. She first learned the language (Dutch, which she now speaks fluently) and then visited several Universities. She worked with some of the most renowned professors in the dentistry industry, because Olga wasn't just an average student. She was top of her classes. She also worked in a renowned dentist practice, before she decided it was time to start her own practice in exclusive and cosmetic dentistry. She started her practice by herself in 2006 and right now, close to the end of 2010, the practice has grown to about 10 dentists and personnel, including one of the top mouth hygienists in the field (and I can personally tell you, this mouth hygienist is a pearl in itself and helped me a lot). Her name is Nadi Goljien and she is originally from Iran.

Okay, so what happened so far on my treatment (they are still treating me)? Well, I immediately experienced this dentist practice was totally different. First of all, and I know it is not that important, but still, the place looks absolutely beautiful. It is filled with art and it is really clean (which IS important). But what impressed me most was that from the beginning you just "taste" the professionalism, like I have never seen it before. To give you an idea: they made an X-ray in one of those machines that turns around your head (no clue how you call this) and after they saw that one X-ray picture, they didn't see anything obviously wrong with my teeth. However, they knew about my pain and problems and thus, after not seeing an obvious problem in the X-ray, they took about 40 X-rays from all my teeth from all kinds of angles. I was busy for about 2 hours in all, before I even saw a real dentist. I had to fill out some forms with all kinds of questions (like, did I have allergies, high blood pressure, etc., but really thorough) and then I was brought to Olga herself who checked out the situation in my mouth with a bloody microscope!!! How thorough can you be...

Olga was very to the point. There was something seriously wrong with my teeth and she explained me why and showed everything on the X-rays in a very straightforward but friendly way. She actually made it very clear a handling needed to be done right away, because I had some serious infection in my bone structure. Oops! She mentioned that I was going to lose a lot of teeth in the upper jaw because of this. Now, you can imagine I was a bit shocked, but what happened next blew my mind and I have never experienced it before in my life. She told me she was going to get a second opinion from her top mouth hygienist, just to make sure she saw everything right. Now, where do you see that? Being a very able dentist and still double check it! So what was my next step was a meeting (yes, almost like a business meeting) with Olga Iankovitch and Nadi Goljien about my situation. This meeting took about 15 minutes and we went over the strategy. But guess what? They made me a part of the team, which is an incredible experience when you visit a dentist. So the three of us decided on the treatment (now, believe me, this is brilliant, because I have no clue of course about dentistry, but those two ladies made me feel as if I was deciding with them, which is a skill in itself).

Anyway, it became very clear I had no choice and I have had several operations so far. One of them was almost 6 hours long and I had many, many treatments in a month's time. And all very necessary. And although I spend some uncomfortable hours in the chair, I can tell you that after only a few treatments, I could walk normally again! And after almost 6 hours follow up treatments with Nadi after I had those operations, my teeth (the many I still have) start thanking me for choosing this practice to get back into dental shape. I am not there yet (by far not), but I can function already properly again. Also thanks to a great dentist in the practice (Ewout Schuringa) who helped me through some very rough times in the dentist chair. He was the one that operated on me and cleaned my bone structure very thoroughly. This team has given me back a normal life and I could only but think to thank them through this page.

I am still under treatment and to fully restore my dental situation is going to take a while. I am going to keep you posted. In the meantime, pls leave your comments. I travelled to The Netherlands but it has been worth every penny so far. And for the many foreign clients they have special arrangements in Olga's practice, so you don't have to stay a very long time and you get intensive treatment.
